About

This blog started out way back when as a means of documenting my experiences teaching English in a primary school in Guangdong, China. My goal now is to slowly and steadily add to this blog an eclectic compendium of personal reflections, critical observations and insightful articles that will eventually outweigh what I wrote in China.

The enterprise is entirely self-serving: I hope to improve and diversify my writing style, inform myself in depth on subjects that matter to me, create a body of work that I can show off to people whose opinion I care about. But if someone actually draws any enjoyment from reading anything in this blog, that is a happy by-product indeed.

Thanks for reading!

There was a young laddie named Chris
Who decided to give us a miss
When he went off to teach
In a place out of reach
So all we can do is send x

Hi Chris, I know this is awhile ago but I saw on their website that you first applied to teach in China through TEIC, is that right? I was just hoping you could give me a lightning-fast rundown of your experiences with them and whether they were reliable, as my gf and I are currently thinking of going out to China with them too. Thanks a lot!
